At thе moment, while the flame of eternal light burned among us and while the silence filled with symbols resounded, I have accepted the honorable and sacred duty of Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Serbia, of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite.

That is not a moment of personal honor, but a moment of shared responsibility. The title of Grand Master does not belong to me, it belongs to all of us. I am just a temporary keeper of the torch, which is passed down through the generations from hand to hand, from heart to heart.

Vision of a mandate which began with taking on the responsibility of carrying out the duties entrusted to me, with deep gratitude for the trust shown and an even greater obligation to all who supported my election, will not be my leadership, but our joint work. It does not start from personal ambitions, but from inherited goals, to make the Grand Lodge of Serbia an even brighter pillar of Freemasonry, in this time of unrest, alienation and spiritual confusion.

First of all, I express my gratitude and acknowledge the Honorable Past Grand Master of the GLS, Brother Veko Radonjić, for all the hard work and great energy that he has invested in the last three years, in the foundations of our GLS, continuing the tradition of his predecessors. We continue our joint construction, for the benefit of the GLS and Freemasonry.

Freemasonry teaches us not to build walls around ourselves, but temples within ourselves. Not to seek power over others, but over ourselves. Not to divide people, but to unite them in the silence of brotherhood and understanding.

My duty as Grand Master requires:
• To guard: Our ritual, our integrity, our symbolism.
• To lead: With the humility of a sage, not the pride of a lord.
• To serve: Every Lodge, every Brother, every stone in this spiritual edifice that we are all building together.

May our Works be imbued with the Wisdom that discerns, the Strength that endures, and the Beauty that ennobles. In times when the world forgets its foundations, we will remember that Freemasonry rests on the eternal principles of Liberty, Equality, and Brotherhood. Our Light is greater when we return to it from within, when we renew our knowledge, our symbolism and our values.

The Worshipful and Respected Grand Lodge of Serbia, should, like a beacon, shine in the spirit of tolerance, enlightenment and brotherhood among people.

I know that I will not walk alone. I know that your hand will not fail, that your word will not be silent and that your Light will constantly illuminate this path.

May our Work in the next three years be a mirror of traditional Masonic values, that we may be recognized as a Freemason, not only by words, but also by deeds.

The mandate before us is not mine, it is ours. It is an obligation to leave Freemasonry better than we found it.

I said,

Brother Edvard Miljanić
