On the occasion of two decades since the founding of the Lodge “Đorđe Vajfert 5995”, on Dec. 12th 2015, the Worshipful Masters and members of this Lodge symbolically lit candles at the grave of the first Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of SHS Yugoslavia and the first Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of Serbia, the famous Brother Đorđe Vajfert.
On that occasion, the Secretary of the Lodge “Đorđe Vajfert 5995” Br. P.P. gave a solemn speech with the following content: “Today we are filled with special feelings, above all with pride that we proved that we are able to persevere in a great task, the foundations of which were laid by a great man, our spiritual father and beloved Brother – Đorđe Vajfert. It is our duty to inherit the great cultural heritage bequeathed to us by our predecessors. We are obliged to defend freedom, equality and fraternity, to be promoters of these sacred values. The great Weiffert said that our actions should always be measured, without biased taking a certain side when it comes to ways to improve the living conditions of our family, our Brothers, our tribesmen. It is our duty to Work for the betterment of society, to do everything in our power to make the world around us a little less painful for those who are not favored. To be truthful and just. Let this great jubilee be an incentive for our Fraternal Chain to be even stronger, and our building a reliable beacon for generations to come”.
The life of Đorđe Vajfert, industrialist, first governor of the National Bank, founder, admirer of art and collector, philanthropist, protector of children, women and the poor, is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the members of the Lodge that proudly bears his name, as well as for all members of the Brotherhood of the Grand Lodge of Serbia. Admiring his great freemason legacy, the members of the “Đorđe Vajfert” Lodge visited the Roman Catholic parish church of St. Anne in Pančevo, which was built by Đorđe Vajfert at his own expense, as well as the new square near the old brewery that bears his famous name. The program of the visit to “Traces of Đorđe Vajfert”, as well as the afternoon gathering of the Brothers and their better halves in a restaurant on the bank of the Tamiš, was realized by the efforts of Brother N.P.
